Public Shootings: Revenge of Perpetrators and Emotional Intelligence of Responders

Sunday, May 26, 2019 · Washington, DC

Oral · Social

Based on the three original empirical studies, generalized revenge in active shooters may predict more casualties. Emotional antecedents were more prevalent than behavioral (e.g., pre-attack planning) in the shooters’ legacy documents. Thus, emotional intelligence in law enforcement officers could contribute to more accurate threat perception and management.
