Social Standing Exacerbates the Link between Peer Victimization and Aggression

Abstract

We hypothesized, and found, that indexes of social status would alter the likelihood that victims would respond with aggression. In particular, the victimization-aggression association was strongest (and positive) for those highly popular, admired, and respected, whereas these associations approached zero for those low in these status indexes.
