Abstract

Cultural identification and alcohol use among American Indian (AI) and Caucasian (CA) college students were examined. Results indicated CA had higher alcohol consumption than AIs who identified as Marginal, Traditional, and Assimilated (per the Orthogonal Theory of Biculturalism). This study represents a paradigm shift from ‘American Indians Drink More’ mindset.
