Exploring Light and Dark Dimensions of Leadership through Social Identity Theory: An Ethnographic Analysis

Abstract

Social identity theory provides a lens for exploring how organizational culture shapes the light and dark dimensions of prototypical leadership attributes among leaders in the American ballet industry. Results revealed leaders reflect both light and dark extremes of prototypical attributes promoted by cultural norms. Implications for destructive leadership are discussed.
