Shared Governance and Academic Freedom Based on Carnegie Classification

This study surveyed the Chief Academic Officer and Faculty Senate President at 310 institutions of higher education with 8 open-ended items, which assessed conceptualizations of academic freedom and shared governance. Recurring themes will be identified in responses from similarly classified universities and discussed in the context of transitional institutions.
