Language and Achievement Orientation As Protective Factors Against PTSD Among Maltreated Youth

Abstract
Individuals whose first language is not English tend to be especially vulnerable to mental illness. Research has shown that higher ratings of achievement orientation is associated with developing PTSD. Our findings suggest that youth whose first language is not English may be protected against a crucial risk factor for PTSD.
