Professional Consequences of Leaders’ Response Style: The Role of Race and Gender

This study examined the impact of response style and race on evaluations of male and female managers following expressions of anger in a challenging work situation. While participants preferred communal leaders overall, white female and black male leaders in particular received significant professional consequences.
