Examining Perceived Social Support and Life Stress As Moderators of Caregiver Emotion Dysregulation and Children’s Negative Affect in Pretend Play

Abstract

Regression analysis revealed multiple significant interactions between caregiver emotion dysregulation, perceived social support, and life stress at age 4, predicting distinct levels of negative affect in children’s play at age 6 after controlling for gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and IQ.
