Abstract

The means by which memory retrieval positively impacts retention is unclear. Participants in this experiment learned materials via a testing or restudy procedure, and were given a final test during which encoding temporal context reinstatement was manipulated. Results indicated that context reinstatement mitigated the magnitude of the testing effect.
