Testing Differential Item Functioning in Anticipated Positive and Negative Behaviors between Men and Women

Abstract
Behavioral measures were used to identify differences between reactions to a policeman versus a policewoman. Two-parameter graded response models for anticipated negative and positive behavioral responses adequately fit. Differential item functioning (DIF) results suggest that DIF was only found in three items: apologize, rolling their eyes, and contesting the ticket.
