Abstract

Undergraduate participants’ attribution of blame and financial liability to a protagonist who caused an accident were affected by (1) subtle linguistic cues used to describe the accident, (2) the race of the protagonist, and (3) participants’ tendency to spontaneously take others’ perspectives, with no significant interactions between the three factors.
