The Power of Knowing: Diabetes Knowledge, Risk Awareness and Risk Perception Effect Disease Prospect in African American Young Adults

This study examined the congruency between perceived risk and actual diabetes risk in 113 African-American young adults. Results suggest that targeting disease knowledge and self-perceptions may be particularly beneficial when developing risk prevention and reduction strategies.
