Abstract

Results from our study suggest that some children make balanced (both hostile and benign) intention attributions for both positive- and negative-ambiguous situations with peers. Children making balanced attributions in negative ambiguous situations may be particularly socially competent, demonstrating greater adaptive and social skills and lesser behavioral problems.
