Abstract

Based on self-report questionnaires administered to 71 youth aged 7 to 14 (Mage=10.77) from low SES backgrounds, we found that appraisals of family support predicted perceptions of self-efficacy in peer interactions. This is evidence of the essential role of self-perceived family support on social adaptation and well-being among at-risk youth.
