Flexible Analogical Access As a Key Mechanism in Relational Thinking

Abstract

Three experiments were conducted to determine whether analogy use is a constructive process rather than a predisposition to use specific types of information. We found that participants accessed different types of information depending on retrieval instructions. Furthermore, this information remained available to construct different types of relational answers.
