Bayesian Priors in Estimates of Object Location in Virtual Reality

Abstract

We investigated spatial category bias, the influence of a region on location judgments. Estimates are thought to result from Bayesian principles; however, priors in dot localization tasks are not preexisting statistical likelihoods. We found that people favor true priors over geometry for angular but not radial positions.
