Abstract

This study demonstrated that a widely used Five-Factor Model personality measure is highly susceptible to faking, with participants able to adjust their scores when re-taking the test under a “job application” condition. Baseline (“honest”) Conscientiousness predicted profile distortion, with Low Conscientiousness respondents producing the most desirable job candidate scores.
