Abstract
Children were assessed for dispositional social anxiety and shyness at age 7 then age 8 (N=60), as well as self-perception at 8. These children completed a task assessing interpretations of ambiguous social scenarios at age 8. Negative and neutral interpretations mediated the association between disposition and feelings of self-worth.
