Abstract

Self-injurious thoughts and behaviors are maladaptive coping strategies used to diminish dysregulated emotion and negative affect (Nock, 2009).The current study examined if meaning-making moderates the association between emotion dysregulation and suicidal ideation. Greater emotional dysregulation was associated with suicidal ideation (B=0.06, SE=0.01, p<0.001),and moderated by meaning making (B=-0.0007, SE=0.0002, p=0.0007).
