Abstract

Less predictable words often receive more looking during reading. Does mindless reading change this relationship? We investigated this question using a corpus of passages with cloze predictability for each word. Mindless reading produced more word-skipping and longer looking time at un-skipped words. However, the word predictability effect did not change.
