Abstract
Extant research demonstrates a relationship between parenting practices and children’s emotional well-being. We examined whether emotion regulation (ER), both adaptive and maladaptive, mediate the effect of parenting behaviors on their children’s anxiety levels. Positive parenting behavior predicted adaptive ER repertoires, but not maladaptive ER or anxiety. Clinical implications are discussed.
