Relative Vs. Absolute Judgment Strategies in Lineup Decision Making

Abstract

In four experiments, we tested the differential effects of relative and absolute eyewitness judgment strategies on lineup decision-making. Though it has been argued that relative judgment strategies foster mistaken identifications, we observed similar correct and false identification rates regardless of which strategy participants were instructed to adopt.
