How Visual Distractors Interfere with Cognitive Processing in Men and Women

Abstract

We expected the influence of advertisements as visual distractor in a mental rotation task to be stronger in women than in men. No gender difference was found in MRT performance. The eye-tracking data revealed men to focus even stronger on the task but also fixating the advertisements longer than women.
