Abstract

Among 107 youth experiencing or at risk for homelessness, higher scores of resilience predicted increased autonomous motivation among youth who grew up with their parents but decreased autonomous motivation among youth who didn't. Higher resilience and optimism also predicted more controlled motivation among youth who grew up without their parents.
