Gender Identity and Adjustment in Adolescents in the United States and India

Cross-cultural differences in the influence of gender identity on adjustment in adolescents in the United States and in India are explored. Comparing countries, Indian adolescents reported stronger pressure for gender conformity than their US counterparts. Felt pressure was observed to be problematic for US adolescents and beneficial for Indian adolescents.
