Abstract

Trigger warnings (TW) may cue empathic individuals to engage with the emotions of others and less empathic individuals to disengage. Participants were randomly assigned (trauma reading with TW, trauma reading without TW, or neutral reading.) Groups didn’t differ in empathy. For TW group, empathy significantly positively correlated with post-reading distress.
