Skepticism about Psychological Science: Origins and Implications

Abstract

Participants were more skeptical about psychological science compared to other sciences. They justified their skepticism by referring to the variability and complexity of human behavior and the difficulty in measuring psychological phenomena. These findings have important theoretical implications and suggest new strategies for effectively addressing skepticism about psychological science.
