Abstract

This study examined how participants’ political ideology affects their reasoning from syllogisms with liberal and conservative conclusions. Participants (N = 414) demonstrated motivated reasoning. Liberal participants were more likely to believe that liberal conclusions were valid and conservative participants were more likely to believe that conservative conclusions were valid.
