Identical Twin Portrayals in Contemporary Movies: A Source of Misinformation

Abstract

Misinformed stereotypes about attributes associated with identical twins (MZs) abound, and anecdotal reports suggest movie portrayals of MZs serve as one source. This study examines stereotypes found in 41 movies featuring MZs. Results show that movies portray several stereotypes about MZs. Discussion highlights importance of educating about media-perpetuated misrepresentation.
