Abstract

American (n = 135) and Nicaraguan (n = 24) children drew pictures of their families. Nicaraguan children included more people overall, more essential details per person, more people outside of their nuclear family, and drew people closer together (all ps < .05). These findings highlight cross-cultural differences in family conceptualizations.
