IM-Pathize: Detecting Empathy through Computer Mediated Communication

The current study tested whether individuals could detect empathy and warmth of another person via instant messaging through a script. As expected, those in the empathic response condition reported feeling more connected to their partner and rated their partner and conversation significantly more positively than those in neutral response conditions.
