Virtual Reality Can Increase Empathy: A Preregistered Meta-Analysis.

Abstract
This meta-analysis collates evidence across disciplines to estimate whether virtual reality simulations can lead to an increase in empathy. A random effects model based on data from 43 studies broadly supports this claim although it highlights some important boundary conditions to these effects.
