Are Teens Who Grow up in Diverse Neighborhoods More Likely to Exhibit Greater Prosocial Behavior?

Abstract

Freshman and seniors from a single-sex school answered questions to test the hypothesis that girls raised in more diverse neighborhoods express more prosocial attitudes and engage in more prosocial behaviors. Only ninth grade EuroAmericans were influenced by area of residence, and only prosocial attitudes were significantly impacted, not prosocial behaviors.
