Abstract

This longitudinal study investigated the role of self-esteem as a mediator between the quality of emancipated foster youths’ peer attachments and changes in their self-efficacy beliefs. The findings supported the hypothesized mediation model and highlight the significance of peer relationships for newly emancipated foster youths’ self-esteem and self-efficacy.
