Abstract

Using the p-curve, a tool for detecting publication bias (Simonsohn, Nelson & Simmons, 2014), we determined if Terror Management Theory’s mortality salience hypothesis (Greenberg, Pyszczynski, & Solomon, 1986), has evidential value. Our analysis suggests that there is evidential value, but the effect size is much lower than previously believed.
