Background Images Affect True Memory, but Not False Memory: Evidence from Contextual Environment Effect in Drm Paradigm.

Abstract

We examined whether background image of word stimuli affects the false recognition of lure words in DRM paradigm. True recognition significantly increased when background matched between encoding and retrieving, but false memory did not. This result is consistent with the view that false memory is produced at the conceptual level.
