Abstract

We tested whether rural residence predicts feeling resentment toward government employees due to perceptions of access to unfair economic resources. Two surveys suggested that rural Americans were more likely to vote for Trump in the 2016 election, but political party affiliation and educational attainment predicted resentment more than rural-urban residence.
