The Relationship between Parenting Styles, Gender, and Attitudes Towards Emotional Expression on Alexithymia in College Students

A hierarchical linear regression was conducted to examine the unique influences of gender, parenting styles, and attitudes towards emotional expression on total alexithymia scores among a sample of college students. Results indicated both Indulgent and Neglectful parenting but not gender, significantly predicted changes in alexithymia scores.
