The Mind and the Brain Are Equal, but One Is More Equal Than the Other: Causal Asymmetry in Intuitive Theories of Minds and Brains

Abstract
In five experiments, we investigated intuitive theories regarding the causal relation between the mind and the brain. People believed that intervening on the brain would affect the mind more than vice versa. We propose that people use a cognitive model of asymmetric causality to reason about minds and brains.
