Abstract

We examined neighborhood safety and police legitimacy across four nations (USA, France, Spain, Germany). Results showed similar patterns for the association between fear of crime, neighborhood walkability, safety confidence and police legitimacy/effectiveness. Across countries, rural areas and lack of trauma predicted higher police legitimacy and safety
