Parenthood Aspirations Among Lesbian, Gay, and Heterosexual Young Adults: Role of Perceived Pressure from Family and Peers

Why do lesbian/gay adults report lower aspirations for parenthood than do their heterosexual peers? We found that gay men reported less social pressure for parenthood from both family and peers than did lesbian or heterosexual adults. Peer pressures were associated with parenthood aspirations among lesbian/gay but not among heterosexual individuals.
