Abstract

Gender differences were investigated in the associations between teacher-student relationship and school engagement. Negative relationship had a stronger effect on engagement than positive relationship did, commonly. However, several gender differences were found. For instance, girls’ cognitive engagement was not affected by their teacher-student relationship. Implications for practice were discussed.
