Abstract

We investigated categorical perception in hearing adults and adults with early deafness and early or late cochlear implantation. Categorical perception occurred in all groups for VOT and F2-transition continua, but with altered boundaries for CI participants. Deaf children with CI’s develop categorical perception by adulthood, but with altered boundary locations.
