Influence of Emoticons on Person Perception

Abstract
The research examined how pre-existing intimacy and emoticons influence perception of a message sender. The results show that in case of non-intimate condition, competence evaluation differs upon emoticon usage. However, no significance has been observed in warmth and social distance.
