Abstract

Four-hundred-twenty-four unsuspecting undergraduate students witnessed a brief classroom visit by a male or female Caucasian confederate. After a 30-minute delay, participants described the confederate’s appearance, then attempted a show-up identification. Significant differences in the estimates of the confederates’ age, height, and weight were found among participants of different racial groups.
