A Systematic Literature Review and Head-to-Head Comparison of Social Support and Social Constraint in Relation to the Psychological Functioning of Cancer Survivors

Abstract

This systematic review of cancer survivorship literature found social constraint is more consistently and strongly associated with distress – both general distress and cancer-specific distress – and general wellbeing than social support. Yet, for cancer-specific wellbeing, the associations were stronger for social support than social constraint.
