Abstract

How do we react when seemingly good people turn out to be bad? Such misperceptions threatened perceivers’ sense of prediction and control, leading to harsher views of the target. Insecurely attached participants, however, retained more positive impressions of the target, due to their more pessimistic expectations of the target’s behavior.
