The Effect of Aging on Top-Down Processes in Visual Attention

Abstract

Younger and older adults completed a visual search task in which they had to find a target indicated by a cue that utilized the Stroop task. Results indicate that older adults produced significantly longer RT than younger adults, but both age groups showed similarly effective top-down control of attention.
