Abstract

We asked a representative sample of 239 U.S. adults to assess their lives and others’ (e.g., a neighbor, Donald Trump) when viewed from 10, 50, or 1000 years in the future. Respondents considered their lives insignificant in time. We report gender, age, personality, and other correlates of such meaning-in-time judgments.
