Abstract
This longitudinal cohort study of all U.S. Army enlisted soldiers with a documented suicide attempt occurring between 2004-2009 found that one-third had no history of mental health diagnosis. Suicide attempt risk factors from personnel, medical, and legal records were similar regardless of previous diagnosis, although the strength of associations differed.
